Where did you get 'these numbers? I cannot find 3835916 in any of the casting number lists I have. First off, is it a inline 6? Number would be behind the distributor. Older V8 on top of the block in front of the cylinder head mating surface.

Hi crm543100 Using this page: https://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/chevyresto/54057.htmIt looks like you have a 1954 Chevrolet 235 six that was built in the Tonawanda plant and came in a 1954 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton truck. I'm guessing from your user name that you have exactly that type of truck? If so... there is a good chance you still have the original engine. Hope that helps! 🙂 If it is the original engine, I consider that a plus. 👍 PS Are you sure the last number in the casting number isn't a 1 or a 7?

It is an inlike 6. The numbers are on the block one is on the block and one on the head near the valve cover.

The head number should have been 3835913 according to info I have,
Again, as in my previous post, are sure about the last number?
Could it be a 3 instead of a 6?

Truth is, I keep lists of casting numbers from 3 different sources...
and don't "fully" trust any of them. 🙂
But, usually the info is there somewhere between the 3 of them.
