Click on Edit Profile under your name, top right of the page. Scroll down to Avatar. Click Upload Your Avatar. When the upload box opens navigate to the avatar you wish to use, select it. When you get it uploaded scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes. As Rusty says there are size limitations. It says your avatar image must be no larger than 100x100 pixels but I think you can fudge it a little. If you try to upload a full size image it will fail. I use a free image editor call Irfanview. You can resize images by pixels. If you use Windows the stock editor "Paint" can resize but I don't know if it can do it by pixels or not.

. Hi Tiny & Rusty, Thank you for an explanation to a novice. I took a small 46.5 K jpg photo (426 X253 pixels) of one of my 37 Chevys and photo-shopped it to a miniscule 17.9K (100 X 59 pixels). I've attached the miniscule photo to this post. . . When I clicked on SAVE CHANGES, it gave the message, "We Encountered A Problem Improper picture type." . I tried to link the web site <http://home.znet.com/x1937/Flx.htm> that gives details of the 37 Chevy in the photo to the Avatar, if that makes a difference. Where did I go wrong? Lou .
. Hi Tiny, . . Thank you for the clarification of the forum's limitations. And Thank You Rusty, Tiny and Tony for your assistance in navigating the forum. . Next question: If I post an ad for transportation and it got moved, how do I delete the ad? . Another question: I notice Chris Cufr has three avatars. How would add more than one? How many could I add? Or should I post in gallery with web pages? . (Pardon the touch of vanity.) . . Thanks again, . Lou .
Are you referring to the posts you made looking for a ride for fenders & wheels? You posted two threads. I don't know if either was moved. You should be able to delete them yourself. Click Edit then Delete. If you don't have the Delete option click the flag icon in the title line. That's the Notify link that will send a message to all the Mods. Any of us can delete it/them. Not being familiar with Chris' avatar I imagine he created a single image containing three images then reduced it to avatar size. Most of us have a touch of vanity. Mine gets less as I get older.
Edit: I looked up Chris' profile. He uploaded an animated .gif. You can do the same.

. I still need a ride for the fenders & wheels. I posted 2 places as the Hauling & Trailering doesn't get many views. I had planned to take a 27 engine to Louisville on my way to VCCA Bowling Green show and had room in my ambulance for more. (Photo #1) .I posted that in the forum. After I got back from the show, the ad was still there. In the future, I will know how to remove ads. The fenders and wheels from Washington state are still in Lompoc. . . Chris has 3 photos rotating on his Avatar. I'll try to create a gif from several jpgs. Is there a limit on the size of the total gif? . Thanks, . Lou . .
I don't think making your avatar a .gif affects the size limit. I guess I'd try putting several 100 pixel images into a .gif and see if the upload is successful. Also the size restriction for images in posts is quite a bit larger, 2.8MB I believe. Your ambulance picture can be quite a bit larger if you wish. I can go ahead and delete those two threads for you if you like. Swap Meet threads are deleted periodically. Threads outside the Swap Meet live in perpetuity unless they run afoul the rules.
