Does anyone know if the back seat foot rest in the Sedan was painted gloss black like the fenders, or was it painted in a more semi-gloss paint, similar to other black painted parts on the car?
Thanks.

The baxk seat foot rest was covered wih capet that mathed the floor carpet.

Perhaps you mean the deflector betweent he bumper and body. It was body color.

Thanks for the feedback. Mine was painted, not covered with carpet. So, I think I will go with a semi-gloss paint.

OK, another question for the knowledgeable out there. My rear seat foot rest was mounted to the back of the front seat, and swings down to rest on the floor when being used. Assuming this is correct, what hardware is used to mount the foot rest to the brackets on the back of the front seat? There are two holes in each bracket, one for attachment hardware and the other to catch in the raised dimple on the nickel plated ends of the foot rest when it is up and not being used. Is the hardware a simple round headed slotted machine screw with a nut and lock washer? It seems like there should be a washer/spacer between the bracket and the nickel plated ends, because the raised dimple is fairly substantial. Does anyone have pictures? This is a '31 Sedan.

There was never a satin or semi-gloss or chassis black as we know those finishes now. EVERYTHING was gloss. Manufacturers didn’t have the technology at the time to make anything but a shiny paint.
