A fellow member has a box of different torque tube bushings from another members estate. I was wondering if anyone has an easy way of identifying those bushings as to what years they may fit? Some are rather long and have a seal incorporated into the assembly and others are only 1-3/4" long with no seal. I have a '28, 3 '29s, a '36, and one '40 rear end to fit.

Thanks - Art

Hello beachbum,
I looked at The Filling Station for torque tube bushings by year. No listing for 28 or 29 Chevys. 1936 lists front #373328 and rear #376021. 1940 lists #v-102. When you select these for viewing, it gives their dimensions. Maybe that will be of some help.

I recently replaced the front torque tube bushing (part number 345734) on my 1927 one ton truck, Lurch. Here's some info about that bushing in case you have one.

I was lucky to find a NOS one on ebay. None of the vendors carries it. This bushing fits 1927 (model LM) and 1928 (models LO and LP) one ton trucks. It is bigger than the bushing used on cars and 1/2 ton trucks.

The bushing's steel housing is 1.735" outside diameter (OD) and 1.510" long. The inside diameter (ID) of the bronze sleeve is 1.192".

The photo below shows the old bushing on the left (with its old, broken cork rear seal and steel washer) and the new bushing on the right (with a new neoprene seal (11730 CR) that replaces the old cork and washer).

If you have any of these, they are quite rare.

Cheers, Dean
