I have a 51 Styleline Deluxe that had a seized engine which needed pulling out. I replaced with a truck engine of the same (Straight 6). It runs good but no reverse on this antique automatic. What do I need to do to to get working?

The reverse band in the transmission is broke. Time for a transmission rebuild.

Chev Nut,
Will I need to buy a torque converter in addition to a transmission rebuild kit?

NO, It is not common for the converter to go bad. You will need a reverse band and link.

I would pull it apart and inspect all parts carefully then order replacements for anything worn or broken but a seal kit and reverse band would be on the top of the list Tony
