For all you truck lovers out there, a Huge on line truck auction coming up. I only looked at one group and they do show some Chev/GMC units. I believe there were 3 or 4 diff groups to view. Go to
https://www.farmauction.net/auction/nebraska-truck-hoard/ scroll down to bottom to click on diff groups. One could spend the day looking at all the trucks shown.
They claim 950 plus. Some initial early bids appear to be reasonable to me.
Hope I did this correctly so you can call up the site.

Looking at an interior shot of one of those '51 half-ton Chev pickups that are in this auction, it appeared (to my tired old eyes) that it had an automatic transmission. What looked like a GM style quadrant is visible on the column right below the steering wheel. Could one obtain an automatic transmission in a '51 Chev truck?

Not until 1954 in a Chevy, but 1951 in a GMC, I think.
I had a '54 Canopy Express with a Hydramatic transmission.
