Need some help! What is the best way to paint a hood, all apart or assembled?

I PAINTED MY HOOD IN PIECES ON MY 32. WHEN I PUT IT BACK TOGETHER I USED STAINLESS RODS INSTEAD OF STEEL ONES. I TAPERED ONE END JUST A LITTLE, THEN TOOK A VARIABLE SPEED DRILL AND RAN THE ROD THRU VERY SLOW. I ALSO PUT A LITTLE DAB OF OIL ON THE ROD TO HELP IT GO THRU EASIER. THIS WORKED OUT PERFECT WITH NO CHIPPING OF THE PAINT. GOOD LUCK. :) :) :) chevy chevy :) :) :)
