I have a set of after market turnsignals on the 52, they work fine but I cannot get the small indicator light in the handle to work properly. It will flash once when moving the handle and then no more. I replaced the bulb which may have been a 12V (generic kit)with a 6 volt, made no difference. I have grounded the switch to the steering column, and checked the grounds at the lights to no avail. Not important but it bothers me. talk talk talk

Glyn,

I wouldn't bet much on this but it seems to me on some of the aftermarket turnsignals, the little light (often green) DOESN'T flash. It simply "lights up" to let you know the signal is on. That may be the kind you have.

   As before, not positive about this idea. But it does seem like that's how some of them were (are).

Bill.

42bill, that is a distinct possiblity,it flashed one time at the start and that is it. Just pondering, but since I posed the question the wife suggested I head for the wrecking yard and pick up my 3.70 rear end tomorrow so I will have my hands full for a time.

Glyn,

Sorry but I think I misunderstood - didn't read close enough what you were saying.

I THOUGHT you meant the light on the unit came on and just stayed on.

NOW, I'm reading the light on the unit 'flashes' just once and then is no longer on.

I'm still pretty sure at least one of the aftermarket ones I had did what I said originally. The light just came on and stayed on. It didn't flash in unison with the turn signals on the car.

Sorry. Looks like my mistake for not reading more closely......

Anyway, good luck with the highway gears!!

Bill.

I thank you for the comment any way.Given the weather report, the 52 will be hibernating til around April unless the weather permits participating in the Light the Fire Tower Parade the Friday after Thanksgiving. It is the best attended parade of the year, we have a walking mall and the parade goes down the mall, people are jammed in every where, takes place on the old original Last Chance Gulch or main street of Helena. Lots of fun and a good way to wrap up the year.

Check your ground on the turn signal ,I had to work with mine on the thirty one.It acted the same way as yours.run a wire from a good ground to the signal and see if it will work.had to work on the column to get a blink.
