ok guys i need some help on the horn adjustment. i put another wheel on and am not sure of all the components were put back right.no horn. I have a 49 deluxe and is there a adjustment on the horn ring.how much movement should there be on the horn ring?maybe i'm missing a part. my manual does not show a picture of the horn assy.I'd like to know the principle of how it works.thanks len

Sequence of horn parts starting at the "bottom". Large coil spring on steering shaft...steering wheel,..Spring loaded contact in hole in steering wheel (to one side),..Flat diaphragm type spring that is slightly cone shapped with raised part in center away from wheel,..Plastic ring that the 3 screws go thru...Wire in center of plastic ring and under edge of head of each screw,..Snug down screws so horn ring is tight but horn does not sound,..adjust as needed...When depressing the horn ring the plastic ring causes the center of the flat cone shapped spring to contact the metal in the center of the steering wheel so inner center of the wheel should be clean metal. Hope that I didn't miss anything.

Chev Gene,on the 48 I have never been able to get the horn to blow useing the horn ring. With center cover off and useing a screwdriver I can easily ground it and it will sound off.So would you say lack of contact it the likely probem or is there something else I should look for,chef-

The 1941-48 has a completely different system...not sure.Sounds like something is not grounding in the contacts/connections.
