I have a question on the clutch linkage. This picture was taken from a 38 Cabriolet in a collection in Ankeny Iowa. I think many of you have been to this fabulist array of every convertible that Chevrolet ever produced. Anyway as I took pictures of this car I noticed this clutch assembly. It doesn't look right to me. The cars parts were produced in Canada then shipped to somewhere in Europe to be assembled. It was then bought and shipped to the United States. That is if I remember the story right. If this is a correct linkage then I am missing the chain for mine. Any comments?

I am interested in how your linkage works without the chain.

I have a 38 cabriolet. The chain went "missing". I measured up from another car and made the link using two D-shackles and a piece of rod. I will try and attach an image.Done!

I want to thank all of you for your comments. It seems I was wrong about Chevrolet using the chain. By luck I found someone that has a chain and is sending it to me.

John,

Shucks, 37/38s owners have been using chains for years. dance Read on.

The most popular one is about size 3/8th and is run through about an eight foot length of pump-pipe and hooked to the rear of a 41 which then tows it home. Just saying. rolllaugh bike Agrin

Really Charlie,

I drive my '37 MD all over the NNER and I have driven to New Jersey and back, I have not seen a '41 on the road. Do they really exist, besides yours ??

They do but are much too cherished for towing purposes nowadays. Most have now achieved such prominent status that generally they can be seen only those attending tea parties and such. (See my previous posts for comments about Fleetliners.) They, now, mostly can be seen at only the best shows. You know; the ones where 37/38s would feel out of place or unwelcome or uninvited. (pick one) Well, sort of anyway. hood

Most all other 37/38 owners have moved on to AAA rather than depend on a 41 coming by to perform their perpetually needed rescue/towing services Again and again. Just saying. You know. dance

I truly do hope this clears up any expectation of seeing 41s motoring along with its lessors. Whether towing them or not. Do too

Best,

Charlie computer

BTW: Nice try but no cigar. Agrin
