How is the door handle reset so that it is horizontal. My car is a four door and the two rear doors are fine but the two front door handles hang down just a bit and I would like them to be straight.

Try tightening the tapered screw that holds the handle in. I did it to my 37 and it helped a lot.

I believe that I recently read a post about replacing the spring. The old one did not provide enough force to make the handle return properly. Not sure if that is applicable to your car.

You can buy latch rebuild kits from The Filling Station or Chevs of 40's. They have the spring that Rusty mentions as well as a bunch of other small parts. It's often the compound effect of minor wear on several parts that causes this sag. Drives me crazy.
