My 1947 half ton has all new braking system (done in a shop). All works ok until I drive a while. The rear brakes get hot and bind. Do I need to back off the wheel cylinders or bleed some fluid out?

The hose from the frame to the rear housing is swelled up inside. when you apply the brake the pressure goes through but holds the brake on when you take your foot off the peddle. Replace the hose. Also on the Huck brake the wheel cylinders are notorious for sticking. May need rebuilt.

I wonder if the shop followed the proper procedures to adjust the rear brakes. Did they disconnect the parking brake cables before turning the adjusters on the wheel cylinders? Did they back those adjusters off the correct number of clicks?

The parking brake adjustment is made after the regular brakes are properly adjusted.

Or maybe they did not clean the vent hole in the fill plug on the master cylinder.

Does the shop that did your work normally work on classic cars? If you took it to the shop that services your regular cars, be questioning about their expertise for these older vehicles.

The shop does work on classic cars. I will follow up with them. Thanks for the responses.

If its just the rears I would look into the hose,if all are getting hot I would look at the master cylinder.
