Ignition also fits doors, the glovebox, gas cap and trunk are all different which no key I have fits. Should those three be the same? Someone must have keyed a more modern ignition with a start function the same as the old one and instead of removing the backing they bent it out of the way. It still only has on off function so what was their point? Not looking for an answer to that but I straightened the backing out and the old switch which I still have functions and will be put back in. I don't think the glove box lock is original but I made it work by file work and making a new latch bar. I took the glove box lock to the local locksmith and they told me they couldn't make a key for it as it was too old but I think he just didn't know how. The trunk lever was damaged and I had to weld a little spot on the shaft to keep it from just spinning. I've at least got it to where it will at least close and latch although a bit sloppy. I did find through a search that there is a guy in the back of the G&D, Jarvis Erickson in Wa. that might be able to help. I haven't contacted him yet. Sorry to get side tracked but just trying to give a little background. My question is what keys worked what in the 47's. Through the search I also found that in 48 one key worked all except maybe the locking gas cap as I think it was one of the many accessories.

'47, 1 key for doors and ignition, 1 key for glove box and trunk. As you said, the locking gas cap was a accessory.

I used Jarvis as my car came without a key.
