1950 Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupe ..two door with sliding rear windows.
Maybe I should post this in the Paint and Body forums but I'll try here first.

When disassembling my coupe there was obviously a drain pipe under each window. They were "shot" to say the least.....and what was left that I could get seemed brittle plastic.

1.Have any of you replace them...and with what?...it appears they had a "bulge" in the pipe that fastened under the window. Any help or pictures appreciated.

I have not seen anything like this in any of the catalogs. Help!.

Thanks
da Chipmunk

Some were rubber tube and that is what I would use.
To assist you in your major surgery I would invest in a 1949-1950 Fisher Body manual.

My 2 door '40 has a similar tray w/drain tube under the back windows. Back in 1998 when I was re-upholstering the car I replaced the drain tubes with clear plastic tubing from Home depot. I sized the tubing to the hole at the bottom of the body and then used a hair dryer to heat and stretch the tubing to fit over the tray nib. I recently had one of the rear panels off and the tubing looks like it was just put in and has not hardened or cracked.

Thanks for the comments fellows. I like the clear tube Mike mentions and as well as well as Andy's.
Gene, I visit the online manuals quite often but just never seemed to dawn on me to look at the Fisher Body Manuals.......I'm just getting old and slow.

Thanks again fellows, AND Andy, I may need those spares you have but can't get to car for a few days, maybe even a month. I'll send you a PM.

Mine is a 47 aerosedan and has the same set up. What I used was dishwasher drain hose, might have cost a few $'s more, bought at Lowes. The top was a little big so I used one wrap of Gorilla tape I had around the drain tube from the window and it was snug. I also put a hose clamp around it to make sure it would not come off. the bottom end fit almost perfectly through the hole in the floor. I will probably use some sort of calk to seal around where it goes through the floor.

You might want to think about whether or not you seal the tube or hose where it goes out through the hole in the floor. That would trap any water that might leak into that cavity.

As an interesting side note, many of the rusting problems on the first generation Miata's have been the result of plugged drains throughout the body. I think there are 17 in that car.
