Hello,

I just bought a 1948 Fleetmaster coupe that's being shipped from CA and I am gathering information on various parts, planning to replace all fluids when the car finally arrive at my house..Can someone tells me the model number of the 3 speed transmission? Do you pump the fluid out or is there a drain plug? Also what fluid are you using?

Thank you very much

There was only one transmission for passenger cars. It holds 1 1/2 pints of gear oil and the is a filler plug and drain plug,
You can drain the differential by removing the two lower bolts on the cover. It holds 3 1/2 pints.
I have used 85W-140 in my cars for many years.
!0W-30 for motor oil and the lowest octane gas.

Thank you Gene! Do you know the transmission model number? it's easy since there is only one for cars but I want to make sure I can differentiate it from the truck. I already ordered the shop manual.

They go by case number. The case number for 41-48 is: 591192. The assembly number is: 591187.
