I have had the clock {windup} in and out of my 47 Fleetmaster several times to have it checked out as to why it does not operate when in the car. I take it out and it works fine on a bench for anyone whom has looked at it. Put it back in and it will not work after a short period of time. has anyone had this issue or can give me ideas on what direction to go to or pursue?

I would try backing off the nuts that hold it in just a little and see if it works. It might be that when it’s tight it causes something to bind, not sure it will help but worth a try.

Being mechanical these all need some level of servicing, especially at this age = cleaning and lubrication. Besides binding as suggested above, it may just be barely operating when it gets "tested" but really needs to be opened up and serviced by someone with experience with these. Since it does function some of the time, it would likely not be very expensive.

When you test the clock Rich do you stand it up on the bench or lie face down? How long does it run for with a full wind on the bench?
