every gm assembly factory has a number, my phaeton was built at #2 Tarrytown NY.

Question where would factory number 3 be. ???

I thought it would be in parts books, but I could not locate it .

thanks mike

I guess I don't understand what you're asking. The link I posted has a list of the factory numbers. Take the link. On the left you have Vehicle/Numbers. Read the paragraph to the right. if you're on a mobile device it might not display that way and I can't help. The site's not designed for mobile devices. Here's the main page if that's what you're asking for. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/

I don't know what to tell you. That link takes you to a page out of the Restoration Pack for 1940 that contains the number designation of the assembly plants. The page below is what the link takes you to. The assembly plants are listed. Is this not what you see?

All I see is the page Tiny posted but I do not see a listing of factory designations. Well I do now that I enlarged the page which is rather blurry. Right at the top-second block down.

It's a better picture if you take the original link I posted.

I could not see the factory codes at any of the links posted above. Tiny's original link took me to a yellow page at oldmanuals and I could not find anything to click that directed me to factory codes. However...

1 = Flint MI
2 = Tarrytown NY
3 = St Louis MO
5 = K.C. MO
6 = Oakland CA
8 = Atlanta GA
9 = Norwood O
12 = Buffalo NY
14 = Baltimore MD
20 = Los Angeles CA
21 = Janesville WI

This is from a long ago post, here on Chat.
