I have a 1941 Chevrolet Radio. It has been working, but now there is no sound. I have checked the antenna, and it looks good. The light is on in the radio, so juice must be there. Just no sound. The two guys in my area (Boise, ID) have passed on, and I can't find anybody else locally. Any ideas on the radio, or a place to send the radio for repair? Thanks,
Dan.

If there is no buzzing sound when you turn it on, till it warms up, it might be the viberator.

Ray: I do have a 1941 radio that needs repaired, however, the 1947 looks the same to me. Are they comparable? This one is already "restored," about 13 years ago. Restoring the 1941 radio would be more costly, right? How much for shipping and time frame? Thanks,
Dan.

Depending on which 41 radio you have I would estimate the cost to 98663 @ about $35.00.
Time frame is a bit long right now as the Portland Swap Meet is April 5-6-7. If you shipped it now it would be after the Swap Meet for sure.
You will be more pleased with the correct radio in your 41. Sell the 47 to help on the repair of the 1941.

Ray: Thanks. Appreciate the help. Can you please give me your address? What about the shipping cost returning the radio? I do have a 12-volt system now. Please let me know if I need to purchase a reducer or anything else. I am eager to mail the radio. Thanks,
Dan.

I either need your radio in hand or you send a picture or open the case and give me the Model number. Then I can tell if it can be converted to 12-volts. Ray's Auto Radio Raymond Holland 6015 NW Perthshire Rd Vancouver, WA 989663-1175 (C) 360-989-5981

Ray: The Model # is: 985793, and the Serial # is: 3303971. Is the radio a winner? Thanks,

That radio is a 1942-48. I would not put money into that radio for your 1941.
If interested, I have every model of the 1941 radio available.
If you are interested in a correct radio I can send you by horse back a copy of my articles that appeared in the G&D from 1980-85.
Questions?

Sorry to hear that. How much for a '41 radio? If mine is indeed a 1947 radio, how much toward a '41 radio? Is that possible?

Best you try to sell your radio locally. I will offer you the cost to ship it to me.
There are 4 radios for the 1941. They range from a low of $200.00 to the 5-band @ $1000. Give me a price range and I can start providing information.

I’m in the process of restoring a 1941 Chevy Woody. Does anyone know where I can find a radio? The dash is now restored and I need to find the correct radio. Thanks

Those 1940's radios have a good electronic design and give good volume and sensitivity. Well worth repairing.
