I'm getting ready to install the engine side pans on my 32 Special. I found 2 brackets that came from a parts rolling chassis I bought and there was 2 brackets (1 on each side) behind each of the motor mounts (no engine pan). Can someone id them and let me know if they are in fact the rear side pan brackets? Also do they go behind the motor mount? Thanks for all help. (Photo is in members section).

those look like the rear splash pan brackets.

Top two curvy brackets in picture are front Splash mount brackets, middle right brackets are the rear splash mount brackets.

The photo is of the correct rear engine splash pan brackets which go between the motor mount and crossmember. The "L" leg with the 1/4" holes goes vertical and the leg with the 1/2" hole is horizontal with the motor mount bolt going thru it. At least that is the way I have mine and everything lines up O.K..

I did a test fit and it looks good, thanks again.

I did a search on engine splash pans and came up with this thread. Where exactly in these links to pictures are engine splash pan brackets? I have everything figured out except what the front inner engine splash pan (I assume this is what the parts book calls “underpans”) looks like. I’m looking for ”˜32, but ANY pictures could probably point me in the right direction.

I was just about to install the exhaust system and realized that I better get the engine splash pan on the driver side done at least, so I spent the day doing body work on engine pans to get ready to paint them and started looking around for brackets. I have the clamps for the back, but have no idea what the fronts should look like. Anybody have pictures?

Go to Ebay and type in " 32 Chevy engine pan brackets".

Here are some pics of my '32's driver's side pan while the engine was out. I recall possibly Bruce Bugay (sp ?) had some used ones. If you can enlarge these, you'll see the front brackets better. Good luck.

The following is not widely known. The engine splash pans and brackets for 1931 and 1932 are NOT the same. I know that is news for most of you. The front brackets for 1931 have an arched bottom to match the front cross member. The 1932 have a flat bottom which matches the '32 front cross member. The one set of pans have the front edge straight. The other have a shallow notch to fit around a rivet. The 1929-30 engine splash pans are the same as the 1931 truck pans. Check your parts books.

Ah, excellent! Thanks Hardaground. That center photo shows me exactly what I need. I have one of those brackets and figured that the other side was a mirror image but simply could not see in my mind how it should go.

Back many years ago (the early ”˜60s) my parents had me go through a number of tests to see what my aptitudes were. I remember very clearly that the testers stated that I would not be a good candidate for a career in architecture because I had difficulty conceptualizing three - dimentional figures.

I’ve been restoring antique cars since the early ”˜70s. If those aren’t three-dimentional figures I don’t know what are.

The testers recommended that I consider becoming a lawyer. I’m hoping I don’t offend anyone, but, boy, am I happy I didn’t do that. My career in manufacturing was really satisfying and I have fun making three-dimentional figures on my lathe and milling machine every day.

Glad it helped. My pans looked like a truck ran them over when I found them, I think on eBay. It took hours of me banging away with crude tools to straighten them but they came out fine and painted up nice.

You certainly landed in the right hobby.

I've always wanted a milling machine but the sun may be setting on that idea. The "house manager" recently disapproved my purchase of an old Bridgeport machine, even though I told her I could make jewelry with it :)
