My friend has been offered a truck engine numbered this: TI 763976. Can it be used for a 1937 truck? Did they deliver both 1,5 and 2,1 ton trucks in that year?

I can't tell you the year of your engine. The casting number would be better information for a proper identification. For U.S. production, Chevrolet had 1/2 ton (GC), 3/4 ton (GE), 1 ton (GC) and 1.5 ton SA (short wheelbase, single wheel), SB (short dual) SD (long single) and SC (long dual). I hope this helps.

The guy having the engine cannot find any casting numbers. Where are they to be seen?
