I have a 1946 half ton pickup presently powered by a 216 c.i. engine. My question is, will a later model 250 c.i. engine be a suitable replacement, and bolt up with out any major modifications?
Thank you.

Not knowing the details of the 250 I would think there will be a lot of adjustment to fit that together, quite possibley everything from fan to road wheel and some of the controls as well.

In my opinion the 250 was the best 6 cylinder ever. The 230 was the first thin wall cast six with seven main bearings. They put a crank in with longer stroke and a counter weight on every throw to make it 250. To change from 216 you would need to put a newer rear axle with open drive shaft, plus all the other modifications.

Thank you for your responses. While I will not put it in my “DP” model, I may consider putting it in my “CK” model if it does not get sold.
