I have never seen a 1941 chevrolet in that color. I looked up the numbers and the paint and upholstry seem to be right on. 122 = blue leather. 291 = Kingston Grey. From what I can tell this may have been a super clean California desert car for a long time.
I'm tempted to bid on it and sell my project car. I have enough accessories to make this one an outstanding machine. I'm tired of working on my project car. If I got it I would have to unload the 1950 also. The 41 coupe driver too.
I wonder what the reserve is. I doubt it will make the reserve. The only thing I can see that are wrong is the carburator and the radio. I have those.
The down side is that I have always wanted a ruby maroon convertible. I think I could learn to appreciate this one though.
A long time VCCA member sent me this document when I was restoring my 41 convertible. If you knew the serial number on the subject vehicle, this document may help. Mike
On the VIN - at a guess - the "N" denotes Norwood (Cincinnati) assembly, and maybe the "C" denotes cabriolet since those bodies were only built in Lansing?
If any less than that I think it is a bargain. I would think closer to 75k. If this is the first time it is on Ebay and a high reserve it could be a test to see what the market will bear.
this car or one just like it has been up for sale on ebay, and at one or two of the big auctions several times over the last several years. as I remember it has had a high reserve but not overly high for a restored car of this quality each time. the body tag on the firewall seems to be correct with the correct trim and paint numbers and it was made in Lansing as the tag states.with a low body no. the vin could be a mispelling or wrong info, if I were considering bidding on this car I would sure ask the seller to clarify it and the cars history if possible.
I didn't think bids would meet the reserve. There has to be at least two bidders at or beyond reserve for that to be done.
Maybe it will come back up. Who knows?
I will coninue to work on the project car.
These cars are no longer bring the excitement they once commanded. Just look at the auctions on TV at what you can now get for 30-50K. Much more than an old 85 HP Chevrolet will bring.
