Last night I replaced my fuel pump wire mesh screen filter back to the paper filter I purchased from The FS.

Just curious, after the car sat for a while (after shutting her down) I noticed that the fuel level in the sediment bowl (with paper filter) had dropped about 3/4 inch. Leaving me a head space above the fuel level. This happened twice. I never noticed this before.

Is this common? The only thing I can think of is that:

1. the seal above the bowl did not seat well and I will check that tonight or,
2. there was an air bubble in the paper filter that has just not worked it's way out yet, or,
3. a leak in the fuel pump diaphragm. Which I don't believe to be the case since I rebuilt it two weeks ago and it was doing fine before changing to paper filter.

I am leaning towards 2 above.

Any thoughts?

Bob

Lean towards normal because that is normal. It seldom is full, even when the engine is running and about 1/2 full when you shut of the engine.
