when the electrolock cable passes through the fire wall, does it go through a grommet ?? and it is the ONLY cable through that hole or does it have to share with any other wire/ cable ?? Firewall Holes (LEFT) Hole 1 has a grommet and 3 wires, 2 to coil, 1 to starter Hole 2 has cable for spark advance on distributor Hole 3 i assume is for floor board hardware

Hole 1 is for the wire loom (coil and starter wires), and Hole 2 is for the Electrolock and spark cables. Hole 2 also has a large grommet for the Electrolock and spark cables.

You need ALL wiring grommets to be snug in order to prevent hot, gaseous air from blowing into the passenger compartment.
At about 50 MPH, any tiny leak in the firewall allows this hot air to flow through the smallest cracks. You want to make the firewall as "air-tight" as possible at ALL connections and openings - including brake and clutch pedal slots.

Good day everyone WARNING.......When working on the electro lock cable.....don't......let it touch the battery cable connection at the starter. It will not be good for your electrolock cable. Hope this helps. Bye for now. Mike P.S. Also goes for the spark retard cable.

Fullbore - excellent advice! Don't ask me how I know. I have a metal protective shield that I purchased that screws on the top of the starter with the push button switch. Not certain if this was a production offering or an accessory I purchased when I was restoring the car 30+ years ago.

I cut a piece of plastic/rubber tubing to fit over the electrolock and spark cables to prevent any mishaps.. I slit the tubing so it slides over the cable - easy on and easy off. Piece of tape keeps it secure.
