Hi everyone...I could use some help with an oiling issue on a friend's '32. It runs well, but I am getting little, make that very little oil up to the top. I removed a rocker to check for the groove & weeping hole and they are correct. I've checked the copper line that runs from the oil distributor to the rocker shaft and it is clean. I am getting around 5 to 10 psi at the gauge depending on temperature/speed. It all looks good except no oil at the top. Before I tear into the oil distributor, can anyone give me some trouble shooting advice? I searched the web and find very little about the oil distributor...is it prone to problems? Should I take it apart? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Since this concerns a 1932, you should post in the 1929-32 forum. There isn't much oil that makes it up to the rocker arms. As long as you are getting some oil and the rockers are getting lubricated, then the oiling system is fine. If you are not getting any oil or if nothing is getting lubricated then you have an issue. Exactly how much oil is getting to the rocker arms? You mentioned in your post "very little" and then you mention that there is no oil at the top.

The only location other than the oil gauge getting that full oil pressure indicated is the main bearings. All other locations are getting fed from the low pressure side of the oil distributor. It sounds to me as if you are getting the "normal" flow.
The oil distributor seldom gave a problem.

Per Junkyard's recommendation, I'm going to repost this question om the '32 Tech board.
Thank-you both for your replies. A little more info: I've put a few miles on the engine since "resurrecting" it and a couple of hours at idle speeds as well. When I say little or no oil at the rockers I mean bearly enough to cause the shaft to drip. The inside of the valve cover is bone dry and after removing the side cover, I see hardly any oil there either. I am seriously in doubt that there is sufficient flow. If I remove the tube at the distributor, how much oil should I see at idle ? Should it flow or just drip?

It should be a flow with little pressure..If the shafts are pluuged with sludge you will get very little flow. at the rocker arms.
