Ok went for drive. At stoplight truck cuts out. Rolled over to parking space gas is leaking from the air intake? .25 mile from home. Any thoughts as to what to do to get the truck home. Have 1/2 tank gas. On roadside waiting.

Sounds to me like the float in the carb is not set properly or the float shutoff seat is damaged.
Got any tools with you, along with the shop manual? If so, I suggest looking in the troubleshooting section and see what it recommends. You might need to open up the carb and do some 'blowing out' of orifices and setting the float shutoff valve position.
There is always a tow truck to get you home.
Good luck! Dean

Yep... easy task.
Remove the brass bowl. Lightly remove the pin that holds the float on. The needle valve will drop out when you remove this.
Wipe everything off. If you see sediment in the bowl then you're definately in the right place.
Since the carb is still mounted to the engine, try to squirt something up towards the needle valve. Maybe carb cleaner (or even WD40 if you have to). Don't block the entire opening - you want the "stuff" to flow back out using gravity.
Now clean the brass nut at the bottom of the brass bowl. Use a wire or paper clip to get down into the opening.
Shake the float to see if there's any liquid (gas) in it.
After all of this -- reassemble.
Don't press the needle valve up too hard into the opening. Don't screw the bowl on too tight. Remember to add the small fiber washer on the brass nut.
Good to go!!!
