I have a 37 Sport Coupe. I'm curious what tools came with the car. I've seen a diagram of a jack, but haven't come across one or any other tools that might have come with the car. What tools came with the these cars?

one of the many benefits of joining the VCCA is access to technical advisors that can help including tools. I don't have the answers you seek but perhaps another poster with a similar car will reply.

37 Tools include: Hammer, pliers, screwdriver, spark plug wrench, (13/16 hex x 3" long hole for screwdriver, as handle), 9" adjustable wrench and 9/16 x 5/8" open end wrench. Also grease gun, starting crank, jack with handle, lug wrench. They are on E-bay from time to time but you must be careful as they are not always accurate. Also a Tool Bag.

Check page 37 of the Feb. issue of the G&D under tool advisors. 1937 and up advisor #83 sells a list with pictures for 1937 --1966 cars. The exception would be the bumper jack.

Owing to you car being a 37, it and it's twin in 38, came with a minimum of tools. The dealer expected the buyer to go to Sears and Roebuck and Montgomery Ward and buy what else was needed. The cost of those tools would be about the same as if one had opted aset of white-walls.

As to the probabality that neither of the above items might not carry bailing wire, you would have to make a trip to the hardware store also. Whilst there you could get a length of pump pipe and some 38 inch chain with detachable hooks on the end suitabe for towing. They, also, will be surely needed. Will too1

I attended the tool seminar put on by Dave Miner in Tahoe. I also purchased one of his books and went on the hunt for the tools. This is what I have gathered.

I got the tools on ebay and the bag from chevs of the 40s. I cleaned up the tools and put a quick coat of cast paint on them


I also got the universal jack on ebay



I have the crank and tire iron, but I still need to paint them.

What year is that set of tools for?

I collected these tools for my 1938 chevy sedan.
