This was my first VCCA show and it was a positive experience. I learned a lot about judging classes and judges responsibilities. I'm no stranger to the judging process but with a different organization, so this was a learning experience for me, a new kid on the block. My Team Captain was John Mahoney who took the time amid the routine to explain many things to me. (and corrected my mistakes). I got to meet Chris Geiger, the Chief Judge for the event and some of his team. I never expected the coffee, bagels, donuts, ect to be provided at the judging seminar and I was always welcomed with a smile by every single VCCA member from the region I met. (who says New Yawk people are rude?) Making someone feel welcome is a sure way to get them to want to attend more meets and possibly become a volunteer themselves. Everything ran very smoothly from my view, so a big congratulations goes to everyone from the L.I. Region. Not to mention the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Verne (Mr. Newbie)

We should be posting some pictures of the Sagamore Hill event very soon. We had a great turnout not only from our own Long Island members but from the Queens region and the Southern New England Region. Everyone helped out with the judging and we were handing out awards by 2:00 P.M.
We had almost 40 pre-registered cars in attendance and 6 or 7 20's and 30's cars. The Long Island Region looks at the show as a party and we want to treat all our guests like good friends, even if we are just meeting them for the first time. We look forward to doing another event in a few years at another great venue.
Thanks to all the people that attending and to those that helped make the show the rousing success that it was.

Thanks for thanking Chris and I but it was the entire region who pulled this off. We even had some new members who just joined in the last month who came down eager to help. A One Day Meet is rather tough to do and can not be done smoothly with out a great team. We had members from CT,PA and NJ and it was our goal to get them on their way by 2PM to get a jump on traffic which they did.
The Long Island Region has been around for over 40 years. it was a spin off of a Model A club of a few owners who owned Chevy's. Both Chris's father and my father who have both passed were founding members. We do have one Charter member who is still an active member, and one member who joined at the second meeting. One other founding member who read about the meet who is not longer in the region but still in the National came by to say hello.
Like Chris said, "we threw a party" It was great to see such a large assortment of Chevrolets, we even had 6 pre-war cars which is pretty rare in the Northeast
We had over 40 cars aver all and there we could have had more but unfortunately we were under contract to give the number of parking spaces that we were going to reserve the National Park Service along with our usage fee. We had extended the registration as long as we possibly could.
On behalf of the membership I would like to thank those members that we could not accommodate for their understanding and cooperation that we just could not extend the deadline any further. We were glad they came by as spectators and introduced themselves
