Has anyone installed an original '31 air cleaner on a Tillotson or Marvel Schebler carb? I finally got my air cleaner cleaned and prepared and wasn't able to get it to install on the carb.

Right now all I have is a piece of screen door I cut and fitted with a hose clamp so at least small swallows and hummingbirds don't get sucked in that huge gaping hole!

The 1931 air cleaner is designed to fit on the stock Carter updraft carburetor. Don't know if it will fit on the aftermarket Tillotson or Marvel carburetors.

Install the correct Carter 150-S carburetor and then your air cleaner will fit.

No problem! I'll send whole lots of money! Just remember, "lots" is a subjective term.... as in if you shake my "lots" it's definitely going to jingle.

When I got a NOS Tillotson, it came with a 1" steel sleeve which has a split joint and a hole drilled into it. It is intended to slip into the end of carb, and held with the affixing screw on end of carb (careful not to interfer with choke operation). Then slip air cleaner over the sleeve and secure with a self tapping screw. Works perfectly if you take care. Care needs to be taken to get cleaner on far enough to not interfere with steering box. Tight quarters, but it works. I will post a photo on left. BTW, I also rotated air cleaner so cable notch is not seen since Tillotson cable clamps are higher up and don't need the air cleaner notch.
