Should the rear two drive shaft bearings, on the shaft just forward of the pinion gear, be packed with axle grease, or do they get lubricated by differential oil only??? 1936/36 differential.

The bearings are lubricated from the rear end. Wouldn't hurt to put a little grease on the bearings until they get lubed by the movement of rear end parts.

I never put anything together "dry". I always put some grease and or oil on the moving parts as I re-assemble them. This gives them a chance to receive lube as it "runs in".

Thanks guys. This had me stumped. I've never had a differential disassembled and have no experience with a torque tube. I'll use plenty of dif oil as I reassemble everything.
