Just wanted to let everyone who was involved in the emails about the radio for my '48 Chevy that it is installed now and working perfectly. It seems that all it takes is to make sure you have it connected correctly! Funny how that seems to work.

Ray...the power cord with fuse and condenser for the radio in my '48 Chevrolet radio has shorted and the radio does not work. Do you have any of these cords for sale or will I have to get this one repaired?
Thanks, Mickey Holton

I suggest that the rubber lining of the male connection on the radio is either gone or broken. The female end of the connector wire may have lost the lining. In any case the radio should be removed to diagnose and repair the problem.

Hi Mickey and fellow VCCA members,

I would contact a local Ham Radio Operator for advice on radio repairs. Most clubs have a few electronic geeks that enjoy the challenges of doing repair work. I located one near me that recently repaired Alligator's radio, and several years ago got mine working.

It is a lot easier to troubleshoot through a problems in person than through a manual, posts, or email. It is best to locate a copy of your manual and a source for parts before making any inquiries since clubs may not have an inventory of tubes, etc. Chevs of the 40's has some parts and tubes for sale so this can give you an idea of the cost of parts.

In Tennessee it looks like there are around 50 Ham Clubs, here is a link to them. Tennessee Ham Clubs

Good luck, Mike

P.S. What you may pay in postage could cover most of your repair, and the world of Ham operators can be very intriguing?
