Sure wish I could find a step by step procedure for replacing the exhaust manifold gasket. Also a list of gaskets needed and where to find them. I have already tightened the bolts to no avail. If anyone could help, I would be most appreciative. Just looking at it, seems I will need ex pipe gasket and intake manifold gaskets too.

Hi mxl,

Try the Filling Station for parts:

www.fillingstation.com

Part number FS-236 is the exhaust manifold gasket. I haven't checked, but they probably have the intake and exhaust pipe gaskets also. If you don't already have one, you should invest in a repair or shop manual. DG-33 is the part number for the shop manual.

Happy Motoring,

Dan

You can get your gaskets locally at about any auto parts store. I've gotten mine at the local Bumper To Bumper store and O'reilly at different times. NAPA is a good place to get them as well. You don't have to pay exorbitant shipping.

Mel,

This should not be much of a problem. Follow these steps:

a. Take the carberuator off.

b. Split the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

c. Take the bolts exhaust and intake manifolds to engine.

d. Take out the round spacers from the holes in the head/manifolds.

e. Take the manifold as a unit to a machine shop and have it planed. (this is the most important step) Have them replace the studs with new ones and give you new brass nuts. (cheap)

f. Order a new set of exhaust/intake manifold gaskets from NAPA or some other source. The set should come with a new exhaust donut. If not, order one. (again, cheap)

g. Reassemble. You should not have any more trouble for a long, ling time.

You're welcome.
