I have tried to twist and some pry to get top off of the coil so I can remove wire and replace grommet. Don't want to tear it up. Any help would be greatful.

Thanks The Honer

You may have an aftermarket piece, but I think they followed the same design. If you send me your email address, I will forward a pdf of the Delco instruction sheet, better job than I can do explaining.

I was never able to find the release tab and ended up destroying the coil getting mine off. Once you get it off do yourself a favor and use a Dremel tool to grind down the nub on the inside of the cap that the tab locks to. In the future all you'll have to do is twist & remove the cap without having to fuss with finding and releasing the tab.

You are right I broke .015 feeler gages a number of times. Once I got it off I don't think something that thin would move it out of the way. Love my Chevys but that is dumb.
