Is there any 6 volt electric alternative to the vacuum wipers on my '48? My car is a driver, not a show car, and I just don't feel comfortable driving it with the vacuum motors. I have a perfectly good, rebuilt vacuum motor but if there is anything I can use instead I would like to do it. I don't want to convert my car to 12 volt, would like to keep it 6 volt. Everyone I ask says there is no alternative to the vacuum motor but I want to know for sure. Thanks!

The Filling Station and Chevs of the 40s both show 6 volt wiper motors. You should check with them.
The other alternative is to change your fuel pump to a fuel pump/vacuum pump. This will provide constant vacuum to the wipers avoiding the wiper slowdown when accelerating. Both vendors mentioned above have them.

Good luck....
