Working on a luggage rack from a 1930 coupe. there are three chrome / stainless strips. Unfortunately, like the bumpers the bolts have to be cut. The ones holding the chrome strip have a steel rectangle on the top, when turned and tightened hold the strip on the rack. does any one know where to get those bolts/fasteners?? or is there a newer style clip to recommend??
thanks

The T-Bolts can easily be made in your home workshop if you have a welder.

Just a thought but you might be able to fashion one from an elevator bolt as they have a large flat head that is quite thin.

You can also check on Google since there are several kinds of T-Bolts shown there.

I had same problem with the stainless retaining bolts on my 34-35 luggage rack.

I think it was NORTHFIELD FORMING IN OHIO that supplied new stainless trim and for the retaining stainless bolts , they supplied 10/32 truss head ( round head ) bolts and the 2 sides of the head were ground flat.

So that you could get them inside the stainless and then turn them sideways so they hold the stainless.

If that name is wrong I will post a link to the name

I would have to check again, but chev later on had a chrome strip that the clips would work, and I used some of them. And I did make my own on the first rack that I did.

I am not sure but I am pretty sure that northfield forming is no longer in business as I telephoned the phone number and it was no longer in operation.

Possible that the elderly owners have headed south to florida or Arizona. Or maybe passed away since I last talked with them in may.

I had called a number from the the web address Mike had earlier posted and the company that made his stainless strips are still in business.

Doug your right , I checked again for another friend a couple weeks ago and YES, they are still there and in business. Their moldings are fantastic quality. I had forget about this post on the subject and correct my original post.

I talked with Northfield forming a few weeks ago also. So Doug is correct and they are still around.
