The proper decal would be Blue Flame 115 if the car has a standard transmission .Blue Flame 125 is correct for a Power Glide engine. The numbers indicate the engine horse power. The 1953 Power Glide was the first to have a decal and it said Blue Flame only. The 1954 versions also have and arrow behind Blue Flame name and around the horse power number (which is in the front).

The correct oil filter decal for a 1950 has blue letters that match the blue used on the lower housing. They are on the orange lid and used on the top-outter circle. The only place that I find the correct decal listed is in the Classic Chevy catalog.Their part number is 37-59.The reason that the sell it is that its also correct for 1955 V-8s and 1955-61 6 cyl.If you have a black AC filter it uses a cream color decal(least common).--Their phone number is 1-800-456-1957.

I have that decal but it does not fit on the lid. Does anyone have a picture of a AC oil filter?
Maybe I do not have a AC oil filter but a different one. I do have one that uses a Walker filter. Thanks for the help.

If it uses a Walker element it means nothing as to what make it is.Walker made elements for all brands-as did Fram,AC,Puralator etc...What color was the body of the filter? If it was orange it most likely was a Fram but could be one of many brands.Fram was the most common of all the "off" brands. The diameter was smaller than an AC.

Just measured my 1950 AC oil filter. The lid is about 5 1/4" across. There is a raised outter surface on the lid 1/2" wide that the decal is on. (original is painted). The overall heigth of the filter is about 7".

I measure the filter the top is about 5 1/4"
and it is 7" tall to the bottom of the top. The inlet and outlet are on the bottom and it is held on to the manifold by two clamps. The other one I have, tells you what Walker filter to use the inlet on it is on the side and outlet on the bottom and is held on to the manifold with two screws and a the bolt on the bottom of the intake manifold. If i could find the camera I will take a picture.

I have a camera and can take a picture but too dumb to post them. The filter that tells you to use a Walker filter element would be a Walker made filter. They haven't made filters for years. The ACs are held to the manifold with U bolts-the bottom of the U towards the head. There is one hose directly out of the center of the bottom and the other hose enters the side about 1/3 down from the top.My 1950 filter also had a drain plug just off center -in the bottom-to the rear. Not all had this.I don't under stand why both of your hoses are on the bottom.Frams also clamped on that way-and others-but were smaller than ACc.We used to install Wix filters (could buy them cheaper). The were the same size as the AC and used the same AC P115 element. They were a cream color with a maroon top.Made in Gasdonia,N.C. if I remember correctly.(spelling may be off)--perhaps thats what you have but I remember the lines were in the same location as an AC but had a different thread on the filter end.

The pressure engines used the same filter-it went thru 1962.Heres a thought-The center lower opening is for the return line. The one just off set to the side is the drain (the way mine is) and the remaining one is for the inlet line.Or the blocked off one was for the drain-mine has a large hex pipe plug in the drain hole.

I can relate to useing Wix filters, they seem to be very popular in rural farming areas.
