I have bought a pair of 1939 Town and Country horns. When I put 6V power (from a battery charger) on them, they are not working, but I can see spark from the + cable and I can hear a weak bzzzzzz.. noise. It means there are a circuit, but no horn sound. What it is the common problem when horns are not working? Where do I begin?

Your charger has enough volts but is lacking in amperes. The horns will require a large amount of amps. On a similar problem, with customers attempting to run there radio on a battery charger. If it doesn't work they are on the phone letting you know. Not only does it not work, but in many cases it damages the radio and it will need to be repaired again. As with the horns, use a well charged battery to test either a horn or a radio.

Horns are working now, testet with the charger and then a 6V-battery. I think the main problem was the points gap adjustment. I cleaned the points with sand paper and then adjusted the screw. In addition I opened the diaphragm and cleaned it, it was rusty. But I am not 100% satisfied with the sound of the shortest horn.
Seems that it was some very thin gaskets between the diaphragms and the trumpets. I will make some new paper gaskets, to get the proper distance between the diaphragm and the trumpet's opposite surface.
