I may be in the wrong forum but here goes. I am trying to find an outside mirror that will mount on my 52 styleline deluxe with the stainless trim around the door.I have purchased two side mirrors from suppliers, and although they look good they are totally worthless from a useful point of view. The mirrors mount too low on the front of the passenger door. I am now trying to find a mirror like the peep mirrors that would attach to the small wing above the vent windows, any ideas out there? This week end I saw a set of NOS mirrors that had the same problem on the passenger side.

The original Chevrolet clamp on O.S. mirror used from 1949 and up clamped onto the door BELOW the belt moulding.(Stainless around window above that point) The arm kind of turns up and the mount on the mirror head is centered on the back of the mirror(the back if facing the front of the car).I have one on mine and vision is great. The position of the arm on the replacment mirror must be too low. Also I think those mirrors heads are not centered on the arm-does swiveling the head help?Chevrolet did make a Peep mirror from 1949-51 and a revised one for 1952.They are available in replacement from Chevs of the 40s-#985235A and fit left side only.$22.00-

Thanks for the information, both the reproduction mirrors I have ordered have the mirror head off set on the arm. I will follow up later today with Chevs of the 40's.

Just checked the mounting of the mirror on my '50.It clamps on about 1/4" under the belt moulding. This is where the door edge has a curve. The curve angles the bracket up wards and it brings the mirror into the center of the vent window for viewing-just perfect. The bracket has a slight concave surface to match the door curve.Would sure like another genuine Chevrolet mirror for the right side

Installing a side view mirror on my '49 many years ago, I found that mounting it below the beltline molding didn't work. I couldn't see the mirror let alone use it! So I installed it above the molding about 4" and it works for me.

This can't be done on DeLuxe jobs as well as hard tops(due to the window reveal moulding on Delux)When the Genuine Chevrolet mirror is mounted as per instructions the arm comes up at a 45 degree angle which brings the head up to vent height.
