bought some kick panel cardboard from Hershey last year but dont know what material is needed to trim out the edges that is sewed onto the panel to look like original. Thanks for any suggestions

To the best of my knowledge there was not any material trimming out the edges of the kick panels. I have seen vinyl sewn on the lead edge like it is at the edge of an upholstered cushion.
I used door edge material - a plastic u-shaped material you can buy in a roll and push it on the front, or open edge of the kick panel and cut to length.
