After doing my research and thanks to the suggestions here, I would like to make a shake down cruise from my house to my son's place near Houston, 230 miles distant. I figured I need the following things:
1. Roads that are not interstate highways so I don't get killed!!!!
2. My headlights to shine out so people can see me dusk. The reflectors are sort of shiny but the lights never shined out well.
More to follow. Keep in mind this is a Sport coupe, could get interesting.
PS How do you post a picture?
Thanks for reading and the help.

Hello Tu papa,
Sounds like a good plan to go on a shake down cruise. Will you have anyone follow you or meet you half way to go to your destination with you? Going the back way is the best way. Leave the interstate alone. Don't drive at dusk or after dark, remember this is a shake down cruise. Stop often and allow people to admire your 29. If you have to stay overnight somewhere along your route, no problem, it's all apart of touring.

Headlights back then were more for others to see you than for you to see.

Enjoy the ride !

My 31's headlight reflectors are coated with aluminum. This is the most reflective coating I've found. I read about it on this website, so maybe someone will provide the name of the company. I think they were in Oregon. I'm away from home, so I can't look it up in my files.

David,

Try polishing your headlight reflectors, it can make a HUGE difference. I tried it on mine and the increase in brilliance was enough that I could drive at night (albeit, slowly, about 30mph max). You can polish the silver reflectors with a baking soda paste, regular toothpaste, or, perhaps the best, with silver polish. Have fun on your shakedown, and like Harrys31coach said, stop occasionally and let people admire your '29.

Happy Motoring,

Dan

I cleaned my reflectors with :TARNI-SHIELD SILVER CLEANER with-Tarnish Protector about the years ago. They still look like new. This is a 3M product.

I used a cotton ball to clean with and another to pollish.
