Body serial number will have at least 9 depending on plant built & where it was at in the production run. What do you have for a number?...Joe

well if your car was made in Canada and a 1935, and a standard series EC , the fisher body firewall plate would be
35-1207A1789
35 is year of manufacture
1207A is a 3 window coupe
1789 would be the 1789 th car built on the line

If the car was built in the USA the firewall plate would also include the factory letter for where car was assembled. Its important to have that firewall plate

I'm guessing you are referring to the serial number plate that was nailed to the floor? Sometimes they looked like the a 3 year old girl was hitting the numbers & others look like a lumber jack was doing the striking. On one of mine I had to clear coat it & then photograph it before I could read it. Try just getting it wet before you clear it..Joe

Robert if your car is a closed body design , then it was manufactured by FISHER and there should be a fisher body tag on the lower cowl panel either right or left just above the fender.

On the firewall about 3/4 of the way up , could be on right or left side, there should an aluminum plate that is riveted to the firewall.

on that plate is the information you require as to FISHER body style, where it was made IN WHAT FACTORY BY THE CODE LETTER.

Chevrolet had a factory in Denmark for assembling cars in the 30's.

If your having trouble reading the plate, take it off by drilling out the rivets. Then take the plate and with a SOFT brass wire brush , carefully clean the surface with soap and water.

If you still cannot make out exactly whats stamped into the plate. Spray the plate with black lacquer spray bomb. When it has dried properly , staple down a piece of 240--320 grit sand paper and run the plate over it to expose only whats stamped into the plate.

Once you have done this, then post the results to this thread for somebody to tell you what it all means.

Re NOTE >>>>identify the either 1934 or the 1935 standard series.........the 1935 chevrolet standard series has an X member in the middle of the frame and that identifies it as a 1935 .

According to a cross reference from gmpartswiki, casting 837231 (http://gmpartswiki.com/getpage?pageid=121397) equates to both part numbers 364314 and 600372. Part number 364314 is for a 1933 CA, CB, O and 600372 is the part number for a 1934 DA, DB, P (http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/parts/1929_41/41cp012.html). Can you find the casting date on the motor?

Happy Motoring,

Dan

The casting number for a 1934 block is on the right side near the disributor.
That is the correct casting number for a 1934 Master and truck cylinder head.

To find numbers, some of the older parts books have the casting numbers. Otherwise I am glad to assist. dance
