If the '40 skirts are very similar in construction as the '38, I can take pictures of my originals at different angles for you.
Someone else will have to chime in about that though.

The 1940 skirts are very different from the 1938. They are a one year only plain tear drop skirt. Attach with levers on the back I don't have pictures but some were posted a year or so ago.

That is NOT a 1940 fender skirt. Note the big flange on the bottom. That is a common aftermarket skirt sold in the '50's.

They also look like they are straight/flat and not bowed like the originals.

Chevgene will probably correct me but I don't believe I've ever seen a "real" set of '40 fender skirts and I would be skeptical of anyone that sez they have original '40 skirts. I was going to high school in the late '40s and early '50s and you saw tear drop skirts on all makes of cars from mid '30s to '48. The "flared" skirts shown above were the cock of the walk back then and highly desired by those that wanted fender skirts. I do not remember ever seeing anything but tear drop skirts back then unless it was a Buick, Packard or Cadillac, etc. None of the fancy skirts I see on the different models of Chevs on this site were seen. People just didn't buy stuff like that for their cars back then. I remember buying a brand new set of "flared" tear drop skirts for my '40 F--d from Western Auto for $12 and my Dad raising cain because I had wasted money on useless items (we were farmers).
I currently have a set of tear drop (not flared) skirts on my '40 and they are attached with a clamp and wing nut bolt at the front and back lower edges. The clamp in the upper middle is closed with a lever and I have no idea of the brand. The skirts were purchased at a festival in a small Ark. town. They fit the profile of the rear fenders well but I seriously doubt if they are anything but after market.

I completely agree with the above. I had such a pair of skirts on my '41. Chevrolet never sold a skirt that was attached with winged nuts. Also the correct 1940 skirt had a pull down lever with two rods in v formation running up to the wheel opening and little brackets that were fastened onto the lower front and rear of the wheel opening for the skirt to hook into. I can say I do not recall of seeing a 1940 skirt also.

Thank you Mike A Mike: As soon as I have a chance to even step into my garage, will take pics and start a new thread so we don't hijack this one. Should be able to do it later this week. Jim
