Sometime during the 1953 production year a few design changes were made to the 3-speed manual transmission.

1. The synchronizer was changed to a 4-lug.

2. The main drive gear and 2nd speed gear design
was changed to accept the new 4-lug
synchronizer.

Does anyone know when in the model year these changes were made? (These changes also were made on trucks that used a 3-speed transmission.)
