I have an idea this is an easy fix but have'nt figured it out.When turning off my wipers they stop faceing up,not down towards the middle of the car as they should.Is the wiper motor backwards possibly?

Try reversing the arms on your wiper motor that go to the wipers.

Hi chef-chevy, The 1948 wiper motor is a bit weird. Assuming this problem just started and was not caused by physical changes, remove the motor, taking exceptional care to note the routing of the three hoses, clean the special parking valve on the side of the motor. If this valve is 'stuck' it results in the situation that you describe. If one of the hoses is disconnected you could also have the same results.
