Fellow VCCA member and my dear friend and mentor, Ardie Overby, died this morning. May he rest in peace.

On this forum, his username was RD1937 and usually signed his name as RD/B.

While he was well versed in many years of Chevy, I came to know him for 1937s. You may have seen his fabulous and award-winning 1937 Cabriolet or his Demonstrator Sport Coupe.

Below is a picture of Ardie and I after "playing" under one of my 1937s. He said he felt like a "pig playing in the mud" that day.

I miss you already, my friend.

I am so sorry to hear that. I knew Ardie was going in for surgery. I was dealing with some film strips with him a while back. The VCCA lost a terrific member. I am glad that I was fortunate to meet him in person a few years back.
May he rest in peace.

Yep, Ardie was one great, great dude!! I have known him for many years and he used to attend our Junkyard Dog adventures as one of our official "Junkyard Puppies". My wife and I (and others) had dinner with him near our home in late January of this year when he was on his way to the Turlock Swap Meet in California. He was in great spirits and he had a good time. He complained of a back ache then, but a few weeks later he found out that it was cancer and, as I understand it, the doctors said that he had three to five years. Now, several weeks later he is gone......that quick! Still can't believe it!! Total shock!!!

Saddened to hear the tragic news about Ardie. I first met Ardie when he and Bruce DeFord visited my home in 2010. He was much too young to be lost.

Here is a link to more pictures and video of Ardie and his 1937 Demonstrator. He earned Best of Show with it as well as gained a few seconds of fame in the DVD about the 2011 Anniversary meet in Flint.

For the folks who knew and cared for Ardie, the news is sad.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting/knowing Ardie, but still feel the sadness of the loss.

Certainly, for all of us, it brings to reality the fact that life is so very fragile.

Just learned of Ardie's passing at the Auburn show last weekend. I was in shock and saddened. He was very helpful and supporting with the restoration of my 38 Cabriolet. One could always learn something from him. Rest in peace.
