I posted these pictures on Chevy Talk website yesterday, but for anyone not on that site here goes.I just had the motor and transmission rebuilt.I replaced the king pins-idler arm-rear spring shackles- oakie bushing and new exhaust plus new Coker radials. My friends and I just finished dropping the motor and transmission in 3 weeks ago. Can`t wait for the weather to finally break. Thanks to Hunt`s Machine Shop in Schenectady,NY for a great running motor and to a friend who rebuilt the transmission.

The car paint code is surf green but whoever repainted it painted it a shade lighter. So I would call it light green.

What kind of rear view mirror do you have on your 48? Does it work pretty good. Am looking for one for my 50 Fleetline.

Hi John,

My exterior mirrors are "universal"....a King Bee peep mirror clone. They are available at the Filling Station. Click the link....
www.fillingstation.com

....the Filling Station part number is VT-2A for the stainless model and VT-2 for the chrome model.

How do they work?....well it's called a peep mirror if that gives you a clue. I don't know how visibility in a 50 Fleetline is, but the 48 is the king of blind spots!!!! The mirrors don't give a wide view to the rear. Big objection is that they clamp on with two set screws that are guaranteed to mar and chip the paint and I had to use a drop of Loctite to keep 'em tight. BUT, they are better than no mirrors.

That is a beautiful '54.
RE: Peep mirrors. I taped a same-size fisheye lens over the lens on mine for a really panoramic view.

Good idea Dean. Thanks.

Now I'll just have to remember that objects in the mirror are closer than they appear!!!! wink
