I have a friend that is working on a '49 Fleetline 2 door and the gas tank filler tube has a grommet that holds the tube towards the top. He is trying to find a replacement grommet for it. He was told by a supplier that it doesn't use one, that the filler is held by a tab with a bolt. I looked at my '50 Styleline and it does use the tab and bolt. I also looked at my '51 Styleline parts car and it uses the tab and bolt also. Is the grommet a Fleetline only? I also noticed that the filler tube is goes through the trunk on his '49 while my '50 and '51 do down inside the quarter panel.
Thanks, Don

49 had a rubber grommet and 50 had a tab like you said. 50 had a "coffee can" looking tube the fill-pipe went through. Steele rubber sells the grommet.
