A compression ratio of 14-1 will get great fuel mileage! Why are we not hearing about this engine in the media? Obviously, it is being squelched by big oil and the "powers that be"!

Compresson ratio equals effeciency. That is why compression ratios dropped in the '70's when fuel prices were going up rapidly.

Vehicle manufacturers should be using this design NOW!

Is this is merely more "snake oil" as the rotary engine is/was. You are never going to beat the steadiness and reliability of an inline six.

The real important question about this engine is, will it run on good old 10 percent ethanol laced gasoline? 91 octane? Plan on spending another 40-50 cents per gallon. You gonna get that much extra milage? Anything fails on this engine we can always blame super efficient and helpful ethanol. Right?

What is the weak part of this engine: The rotating gizmo that lifts the pistons and rotates the shaft, I would suspect. What kind and weight oil will lubricate it. What cools it?

Would you take to the air relying on one of these gadgets? It'll never fly.

Let's see. Five cylinders equals 72 degrees of spacing. While six cylinders offer 60 degrees of spacing. Much smoother operation.

What will be the cost of this concept? Astronomical? Who knows.
How will it do under load pulling a heavy vehicle and loaded trailer.

Looks like to me that someone had a nightmare and then convinced some government to grant funds to play around with this thing. Is this an australia Australian or Canadian canada hiccup?

Are you jumping of the bandwagon too soon?

I think it has possibilities (unlike the rotary) though I do have doubts about the "star" below the piston. It also looks very much like a 2 stroke as well.
Also Charlie I think I saw a text near the beginning that stated New Zealand.

Makes me wonder, why all the interest in improving the gasoline engine, when electric is the future for automobile engines ( motors ) anyway...

Electric may be alright for the city slickers but run out of power rather quickly on country drives which is at least 50% of my travel.

Agreed. When "they" come up with a fast charge, slow discharge capacitor to run and electric car I might be interested in owning one. Driving 100 miles then having to wait eight hours for a recharge IF you can find a recharge station isn't something I want to do. That would make a cross country drive a tad daunting.
