When I bought my '41 coupe its throttle cable (for dash throttle button) ran through a hole in the top of the accelerator rod. I disconnected it because it had a tendency to bind on the cable when the accelerator was depressed. I later replaced the rod, and have a cotter pin in the hole where the cable ran through it. That hole is drilled at an angle in the rod, so the throttle cable could not slide through it very well anyway. Possibly I have the wrong mixture of parts, but this accelerator rod works more smoothly than the one I had on it before. The car has a Carter W-1 carb. Is there another way to hook up the throttle cable other than through the accelerator rod? Was it attached differently on other years?

Maybe I didn't describe this situation very well in the last post. Maybe I could get a discussion going if I asked the question, how did the '38 throttle cable linkage attach to the W-1 carburetor? Was it different than '41? A picture was posted of a '38 carb in the last few months showing a "D" shaped extension on the bottom of the accelerator arm. The throttle cable passed through a hole in that extension. That hole is much larger than the hole in my '41s accelerator rod, and would not restrict movement. Possibly I could replace my '41 arm with the '38 style?
Thanks,
Sid

The 1938 is the same as a 1948 and the 1948 is the same as up to 1952 (for hand choke models only)

Thanks Chev Nut. I'll look at cars at shows and tours to see if I can figure a way to make it work.

I may have one laying around Let me know if you can't find one.
The Carter or Rochester all work as you can change makes of carburetors and use the same bracket.
