What was original floor covering for the front of a '41 Special Deluxe? Was it carpet? Taupe colored rubber? And rear area was carpet? loop pile?
Thanks,
Sid

The front mat was brown rubber with a carpet insert on the lower part. The rear was a brown carpet - cut pile on the Special Deluxe.

Thanks Chev Nut. Filling Station catalog shows floor mat part # CR-171 on page 64. It is for front only. They also show cut pile carpet, front and rear for '41. Is the front mat supposed to cover the entire front area, or be laid on top of carpet?
Thanks,
Sid

The front mat, with the carpet insert, covers the complete front floor of the 1941. The rear mat is carpet, and covers the complete floor area in the rear.

The front mat, available from the Filling Station, is very close copy of the front mat.

I still haven't found anyone who produces a black mat for the 41 business coupe, anyone know of any?

Your only option is to paint the tan mat black. Not a real good solution, but I don't know of anyone producing the correct black mat.

doesn't somebody sell a black mating by the foot that could be cut to fit for the business coupe? My '41 has some on the shelf above the spare in the trunk, and it appears to be cut off a roll. If I could find some to match, I'd do the rest of the trunk with it.

I think that someone is making the trunk mat set. Hold on while we check for a source.

A business coupe did not have a trunk mat. The wood shelf was just painted black.

Sid, an upholsterer should be able to fix you up. They have access to stock the normal shops wouldn't have. You might even do like Steve did have a carpet with serged edges made.

In attempt to buy the front floor mat, I contacted Filling Station and was advised they were on back order. Chev's of the forties said "we are out and they broke the tooling, so we don't know when we will have more." Is there another source for this mat? I'd like to install a new one as I finish up my transmission work.
Thanks,
Sid

Thanks Dan, I sent them an email last night. We will see what they say. If I could find some taupe colored rubber, I could make one.
